I went here in May 2010 as a young woman with my then-3 year old son. I was living with my ex-partner and he was getting very violent, I was afraid for my life. When he stepped out for a few hours I called the crisis line and they had a space for me. 20 minutes later I was in a cab that they sent on my way to the emergency shelter and I haven't seen him since, except in court. I received counseling, help with my kid, legal help with getting a protection order, weekly domestic violence support groups, and help with finding transitional housing. All free.

Staying in a shelter isn't very FUN, but it was essential in saving my life and I am so grateful the YWCA is there. Call them if you're experiencing abuse in your relationship.
